Kobe Bryant questions how much more he can support Pau Gasol
By Ryan Donoho
Pau Gasol was traded to the Houston Rockets in a three-team deal for Chris Paul back in 2011, but the deal was rescinded, and Gasol has remained a Laker. Since then, he has been involved in multiple trade talks every season, and this year has been no different.
One guy who has always been on his side is Kobe Bryant. Bryant has said that he wants Pau to remain a Laker, but if they were going to trade him, he wanted them to just do it and not throw his name out there. When asked about what else he could do to support Gasol, Kobe had a funny response, via Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders (sulia post):
"“How much more am I supposed to support a guy?” Bryant said. “Besides making a Pau flag and riding in there on a horse with Spanish-colored paint on my face, looking like a Spanish William Wallace or something? I don’t know what else to do.”"
He’s right (maybe could have toned down the examples). Kobe has always supported his Spanish running mate, and he even wrote a touching piece about Gasol in Pau’s book. Gasol has been a Laker for over five years now, and when he makes the hall of fame, his jersey will hang in the rafters of Staples Center. This may be his last season in Los Angeles, though.
