We’ve already seen how the New England Patriots losing the AFC Championship cost sporting goods store Modell’s $500,000 dollars.

Now there’s a furniture store out $600,000 dollars after taking a risk on Super Bowl XLVIII.

Houston based Gallery Furniture  decided they’d run a promotion for customers where they’d give away furniture purchases for free assuming the customer spent $5,000 dollars, had the furniture delievered before the AFC and NFC Championships and correctly picked the would-be Super Bowl teams.

Almost 80% of the customers who participated got it right and now the furniture store has to pay up.

"More than one hundred customers came in and spent the $5,000 while picking the winning teams. The promotional miscalculation by Gallery Furniture will cost the store more than $600,000. Some customers are walking away with as much as $12,000 worth of furniture"

Of course, like almost always, I’d venture to guess the store took out insurance in case this did happen, but it’s still pretty awesome for the people who won.

I imagine getting $10,000-$12,000 dollars of household furniture for free would be considered a pretty good day.
