Richard Sherman calls reaction to his rant ‘mind-boggling’

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is enjoying a week as the league’s most visible star. There were 50 million people watching the NFC Championship game when he made a game-saving play and then ranted to Erin Andrews. There has been some praise for Sherman but there has been a lot of backlash as well. Sherman could come up with one way to describe it all in an interview with Rachel Nichols of CNN.
“It was really mind-boggling the way the world reacted,” Sherman said.
While Sherman has been described as everything from brash to thug, Sherman says he is really just a nerd at heart.
“I’ve always been a square, a nerd. Kind of odd, kind of awkward,” he said. “I still am to this day. People just think I’m a lot cooler ’cause I play football.”
He also said he regrets the rant.
“And that was immature and I probably shouldn’t have done that. I regret doing that.”
