The Carolina Panthers were looking like they were dead in the water three games into the season but they ended up turning things around in the most incredible way and ended up the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs. All of the credit is being placed with head coach Ron Rivera for turning his team around when he needed to most and the Panthers have rewarded him with a fat contract extension.

According to the Panthers official Twitter account, the team has given Ron Rivera three-year contract extension.

The report was later confirmed by ESPN insider Adam Schefter.

The extension helps soothe the fact that Carolina’s season ended in the NFC Divisional round, and it shows the kind of respect the Panthers have for Rivera. There were questions about his job before last season and even more when the team started out in abysmal fashion, but all questions have since been answered.
