The Wall Street Journal put together this infographic detailing every injury in the NFL over the 2013 season. They discovered that there were more injuries to knees than any other party part, over three times as many knee injuries as head injuries.

“We think this is partially due to the fact that the weight of the body rests on the legs, and this area also takes many hits during a game,” SimpleTherapy co-founder Nic Gay said, via the Wall Street Journal

“If you watched what happened with NaVorro Bowman in the NFC championship, the foot was planted and another player’s body weight fell on his knee from the side,” Gay said. “Because his cleats were dug in to the turf, the knee ligaments became the weakest link and they ripped. This rarely happens with the arms in football.”

The ankle was the second most injured body part.
