Will Julian Edelman return to the New England Patriots this year?
By David Miniel
New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman stepped up in a huge way after veteran wide receiver Wes Welker moved onto the Denver Broncos. Patriots fans felt betrayed once they heard the news of Welker moving on and deciding to play with Peyton Manning.
But Tom Brady and the Patriots didn’t quit despite losing tight ends Rob Gronkowski (again), Aaron Hernandez, Wes Welker and even Deion Branch. They still sat at the top of the division and conference, reaching the AFC Championship game against Wes Welker and the Denver Broncos.
Edelman finished the year with a career high receptions (105), targets (151), receiving yards/touchdowns (1,056 – six) while playing in all 16 games. There’s no doubt that he’s becoming the offenses next big thing, but will he be coming back to the organization after having a breakout year?
According to MassLive.com, Edelman is unsure if he would be back in New England or not.
"“I haven’t even sat down with my agents and discussed that yet. Going forward, I’m going to sit down and discuss what I want and we’ll come up with a plan.” Edelman via MassLive.com."
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. Edelman could be walking away from the team just like Welker did last year.
What do you think New England Patriots fans? Would you like Edelman to return to the team, or do you think the offense would work just fine with the rest of the receiving corps.?
