Former New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath is the latest NFL player to say that he is experiencing the long-term effects of concussions form his playing days.

“I’ve been some through some things medically,” Namath said in the excerpt, via the New York Daily News. “I’ve seen some things on my brain. But I’ve had some treatment – and I’ve improved.

“None of the body was designed to play football. Excuse me, you know, football, we’re just not designed for.”

Namath had other problems besides knee injuries. He has had both knees replaced. He details the rest of his injuries in an upcoming interview with CBS Sunday Morning.

Namath famously guaranteed the New York Jets would win the Super Bowl and he reference that as well.

“Oh, you try to be cool,” Namath said. “You try to convince yourself, you know, ‘all right, this is another game,’ and, you know, ‘I’m ready.'”
