The Boston Celtics seem to be trying to figure out a way to keep Rajon Rondo in town, but recent attempts at hashing out an extension have proven fruitless. This has led analysts and fans back to the trade rumors involving Rondo as many believe Boston’s only option is to extend Rondo now or trade him before the deadline.

Celtics GM Danny Ainge has said recently that he’s not going to field offers for Rondo, but he apparently isn’t sticking very closely to that statement. According to WEEI in Boston, the Celtics are getting phone calls with inquiries about Rondo.

This doesn’t mean that the Celtics are going to seek out one of the offers that come their way, but they’d be hard pressed to ignore a juicy one should it come along. With Rondo holding off on extending, the Celtics may end up finding value in a trade that ends Rondo’s time in Boston.
