The Green Bay Packers have a lot of money invested in their 2014 roster, but that may not stop them from further investing when it comes to guys already on the team. With millions committed to Aaron Rodgers, Clay Matthews and Tramon Williams, the Packers need to figure out how to spread out their spending and that could include giving an extension to Jordy Nelson.

Nelson has been a stud for the Packers and came through this past season to lead the Packers receivers despite there being questions about his health prior to the season. His cheap salary is a bargain for Green Bay but he only has one year left on his deal and Green Bay may want to lock him down now.

Per ESPN.com blogger Rob Demovsky:

"It’s possible the Packers could restructure Williams’ contract and possibly others, and they’re likely going to extend Nelson’s deal, so some of those numbers could change and free up more space."

If the Packers find a way to do it, they’re going to extend Nelson. The only question is can they find the money to make it happen, as the Packers are finding it hard to fit their current team under the salary cap.
