The Detroit Pistons are a mess at the moment and no one can really figure out why. On paper, Detroit has a roster that should be winning but things just aren’t clicking at the moment. This has prompted fans to insist that moves be made before the trade deadline to fix whatever the problem may be.

One name that has been mentioned in trade rumors around the NBA is Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo. The Detroit Free Press went in-depth with their analysis of what needs to be done and based on what they know and have heard about the team, the belief is that the Pistons would go after Rondo should be become available.

"If a high-level player like Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo becomes available, would the Pistons consider it? Absolutely. But will they trade Monroe just to add a needed shooter or solid player that isn’t a game-changer? Highly unlikely."

This isn’t earth shattering, considering everyone would want to be in on Rondo. But the interesting part is that they wouldn’t want to trade Monroe to get a player like Rondo which is in line with the team’s desire to keep him off the trade block.

Detroit needs something to happen, but whatever happens will need to do so without trading Greg Monroe.
