NBA Trade Rumors: Cleveland Cavaliers may look to keep Dion Waiters
By Josh Hill
There has been a lot of back and forth on Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters lately and that has a lot to do with how crappy the team is at the moment. The Cavs are in turmoil with Luol Deng calling them out, Kyrie Irving causing drama about whether or not he’ll stay and the team can’t seem to win to make it all stop.
So it’s not a surprise that Waiters is going to be traded one minute and then kept the next, as the most dramatic move the Cavs can make to correct their team is to trade Waiters. The thing about that though is it’s just not a good idea, as NBA expert Chuck Myron agrees that the Cavs just seem to like Waiters too much to trade him right now.
"Dan Gilbert reportedly likes him, so I don’t think it’s all that likely, and we haven’t heard as much about him lately. But that team is a mess, so if it happens, I wouldn’t be completely taken aback. As I said earlier, that team could benefit from a shakeup, and Gilbert wants to win now."
Remember that the Cavs refused to include Dion Waiters in a trade with the Lakers to get Pau Gasol and dump Andrew Bynum, so there’s legitimacy to the claim that the Cavs like Waiters. How long that lasts is unknown but it appears that this rumors roller coaster Waiters is on isn’t going to stop anytime soon.
