The Super Bowl XLVIII match up between the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos looked great on paper, thanks to the No. 1 ranked Seahawks defense and the top-ranked offense of the Broncos.

Unfortunately, the game didn’t live up to the expectations and only one unit was able to put together a strong performance as the Seahawks routed the Broncos, 43-8.

The game was out of reach by the end of the first half, which resulted in the Super Bowl receiving lower ratings than a year ago.

According to Austin Karp of SportsBusiness Journal, Seattle vs. Denver generated an overnight rating of 47.6, which was slightly less than last year’s 48.1 rating that came from the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers game.

Despite being a down year, Super Bowl XLVIII was still the fifth most watched Super Bowl in NFL history.
