If you’re a member of the Buffalo Sabres, do not get comfortable. It looks like you might be on the way out soon.

As the absolute worst team in the NHL,  this is not surprising. Also with a team that has 10 soon to be unrestricted free agents on their roster, a lot of moves are to be expected.

General manager Tim Murray had this to say in an interview with WGR Radio in Buffalo,

"“There are players on the team we’re certainly going to go forward with, young guys that they fit what we want to do…In saying that, if a team calls and they absolutely knock your socks off, then I guess I’ve told a fib by saying we’re going to go forward with a certain player and I’ve traded him. It doesn’t look right, but that’s my motto. I’m willing to listen on every single player, so I’m certainly listening on Ryan. Is that our plan? I guess we’ll see what other teams have to say.”"

When asked specifically about Ryan Miller and his recent comments, he said this,

"“His status at this point is that he’s a Buffalo Sabre… I’ve had talks with a couple of teams. They’ve showed some interest. They haven’t done anything yet to change that scenario. Talks are going on for a lot of players. There’s a lot of ideas being thrown about here the last few days. As of right now, nothing has changed with Ryan.”"

Obviously, in any deal the Sabres make they will want draft picks, prospects or young NHL players in return. For a team that has been focusing on the draft in recent years, the Sabres future looks bright with the prospects they currently have. Add to that a more than likely first overall pick and you have even more young talent.

The Sabres will definitely have some growing pains in the coming years but in order to get in started, trades have to happen sooner rather than later.
