Angels’ Albert Pujols has enjoyed his normal offseason

There’s no doubt that Albert Pujols is a future first ballet Hall of Fame inductee when he’s eligible. But for right now, everybody who admires pure power hitting will be able to enjoy him for a couple more years. That’s if nothing goes terrible wrong with the 34 year old first baseman/designated hitter from the Dominican Republic.

I grew up watching Albert Pujols dominate pitchers left and right ever since he first entered the league back in 2001. As a Chicago Cubs fan, he’s been responsible for more than a handful of headaches and tantrums. Whenever he stepped into the batters box, it was pretty much guaranteed that he launched one into the bleachers or out of the ballpark.

Last year we saw a different version of Pujols. He was hit with an injury that limited him to only 99 games, which brought him down to career low numbers. He finished the year with only 17 home runs, 64 RBI’s and a batting line of .258/.330/.437.

Pujols has never finished a season under 30 home runs, 99 RBI’s, .258/.343/.516.

But he’s looking to turn things around in 2014. According to Joel Sherman on Twitter, the limited Pujols actually enjoyed his normal offseason.

The Angels are looking to compete with the Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics this year and will need number five 100 percent in order to do that.
