Rapper Kendrick Lamar will have a busy NBA All-Star weekend as he’s scheduled to perform during Saturday’s Dunk Contest.

He’ll also be in New Orleans bleeding purple and gold as he says despite the hard times, he won’t jump ship on the Los Angeles Lakers.

Lamar, who sat down with LAWeekly.com discussed the Lakers recent woes, but made it clear that he’s purple and gold for life – well – kind of.

"What are your thoughts about this year’s Lakers season?Man, please don’t talk about the Lakers [laughs]. I’m hurt… .We hurtin. But you still root for them? Hell yeah. It’s crazy because I just did a photo shoot with Chris Paul for ESPN, and they asked me, ‘I know you and [Paul] are really close, but what are the debates… who you riding with. I always tell them, ‘[Paul] is my partner, but I’m not going to jump on the bandwagon because the Clippers is booming now. It just don’t feel right.Of course, I’m going to support it because it’s the Clippers and that’s LA. I’m always going to go to both teams’ games. I’m just not going say that I was a day one Clippers fan, like back when they had Lamar Odom or Danny Manning."

In fairness, Lamar can technically get away rooting for both teams given they’re both from Los Angeles and he’s simply supporting his city. Though, it’s going to come across as bandwagoning if he starts supporting the Clippers publicly moving forward.

Does that mean he’d be King of Bandwagon rappers? Or does that title stick with Lil Wayne?
