The Los Angeles Lakers are looking into the possibility of trading long tenured big gam Pau Gasol, and already it seems like the team thinks he’s gone. Technically Gasol is gone, as he’s out with a groin injury and isn’t in the lineup but he’s still on the roster, which is something that may change before the trade deadline.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak has the task of trading Gasol, likely to the Phoenix Suns, and getting back a decent return. But even though Kupchak has been in talks with the Suns about trading Gasol, he still thinks the Spanish forward will go down as one of the greatest Lakers ever.

Per Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times:

"“On one hand I really feel for the situation [Gasol is] in but on the other hand our guys are very, very highly compensated professionals and this is the business that they chose… He’s a great player and regardless of what happens, he’ll go down as one of the great players in Laker history.“"

Kupchak also seemed to take a shot at Gasol, but stating that he’s a highly compensated player is merely stating a fact. The Lakers have been shopping Gasol for years and this time it looks like the team might finally pull the trigger.
