NFL Rumors: Jermichael Finley wants to finish career with Green Bay Packers

Multiple teams are expected to show interest in free agent tight end Jermichael Finley, including the Seattle Seahawks and New York Giants.

But if Finley has his way, he’d prefer to stay right where he’s at and remain with the Green Bay Packers for the rest of his career.

Finley’s agent recently spoke to the New York Post and declared such, though said if things don’t work out with the Packers, he will explore other opportunities – including with the aforementioned Giants.

“Right now he is a Packer and I know he would love to play his entire career there,’’ Finley’s agent, Blake Baratz, said in an email to The Post. “For the next five weeks or so they have his exclusive negotiation rights. If it doesn’t work out in Green Bay for whatever reason then I believe there are a number of teams that could use a talent like Jermichael.’’

Bring Finley back would be somewhat risky for the Packers given the injury concern and the fact he’ll want a significant amount of money. That said, he’s a clear upgrade over what they’d be able to replace him with.

Finley has reportedly been working out, running routes and catching balls and is expected to be cleared for contact in the coming weeks.

Lol. If he’s a “Risk” for the Packers, then wouldn’t he be a “risk” to all the other teams as well??? You make it sound like he’d be “perfect” for any other team, but a “risk” for the Packers. This just doesn’t make any sense!!!!

I know Finley wont be cheap, but if this guy is ready and cleared by the doctors, we need to find a way to work something out with him. We have a lot of holes to fill as we sit right now and it’d be really nice not to have any worries on offense, plus he showed serious maturity last season n was starting to really live up to his full potential, he’s an every down TE and if we let him go, we could end up in another Nick Collins situation where we struggle to replace the talent he brings, n not having a playmaking TE could really hurt us, imagine if we had him in the WC game where Quarless was no impact at all, things easily could of been different. Well, hope we really find a way to bring a guy back that has a desire to stay with the team. If it would be at the expense of having to let Nelson or Cobb go though, we can’t do it. Rodgers should restructure a little bit like Brady did to try n help out his team, change it up, give up a little bit but get the rest of it all guaranteed money. Hopefully something gets worked out.

Taking Finley over Nelspn or Cobb would be nuts. Hope we can keep him, though.

Yeah there’s no way anybody will be signed at Cobb or Jordy’s expense, they’ll be getting their new deals next season. I really wish we could keep Finley but unless every team in the league is more worried about the risks than the reward, there’s probably no way cause some team will offer him the deal he wants, but never know, we could get lucky, if not i’m hoping we find a guy in the middle rounds like 6’7 CJ Fedorowicz out of Iowa i think, he could develop into a really big time TE and he’d be a tremendous RZ target for Rodgers. Think we might end up with a 3rd round compensatory pick, would love to see Safety Pryor, MLB Skov, and than go top rated Safety for our 1st 3 picks and get CJ with that comp pick.
