NFL Draft Rumors: Baltimore Ravens to trade up for Sammy Watkins or Mike Evans?

The NFL Draft is a few months away, but when May rolls around we may seem some movement on draft boards both in terms of players rising and falling and teams moving up and down. One of the teams who may look into trading their first-round draft pick and sliding around the order are the Baltimore Ravens, who covet a young wide receiver for Joe Flacco to utilize.

Both Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans are viewed as the best receivers in the draft, and there are plenty of teams in the NFL that could use a dangerous threat like Watkins or Evans. Neither player is expected to fall out of the top 15, meaning if the Ravens wanted Watkins or Evans, they’d have to trade up.

ESPN.com blogger Jamison Hensley says that while the Ravens would love to trade up, doing so makes very little sense unless the price is absolutely right for them.

"The top two wide receivers, Clemson’s Sammy Watkins and Texas A&M’s Mike Evans, are selected No. 9 and No. 10. For the Ravens to move up six or seven spots to get one of those wide receivers, they would need to trade their second-round pick. That is too steep of a price, especially after the Ravens traded their fourth- and fifth-round picks to Jacksonville for offensive tackle Eugene Monroe."

Baltimore could still move down if they wanted to regain some alter round picks they traded for Monroe, but moving up looks to be unlikely, even if adding Watkins or Evans makes the Ravens an explosive offense.
