There was once a day and age when Terrell Owens was an elite receiver in the NFL and was making waves on almost a daily basis. From his days in San Francisco where he pushed the legendary Jerry Rice out of a job, to standing on the Dallas star in Cowboys stadium to all of the popcorn eating, sharpie covered sit-up routines he did, there was no doubting Terrell Owens as a millionaire entertainer.

These days, Owens is no longer entertaining and he’s also no longer a millionaire, as his sad downward spiral took a really embarrassing turn this past week. According to TMZ was well as ProFootballTalk.com’s Mike Florio, Owens’ wife has filed for divorce citing he only married her so he could secure a $2 million home loan.

It’s sad enough that Owens needs to now marry for money, it’s even sadder that he’s marrying postal workers for their money.

You can laugh at this, as it’s a hilarious situation if this were an episode of a television show. But it’s not and Owens is clearly not in a good place in his life. He’s serving as yet another example of a guy who just cannot function properly outside of the game of football — a game that has had no problem leaving one of it’s most famous showmen behind.
