NFL Rumors: Denver Broncos may pursue signing Julian Edelman
By Josh Hill
The Denver Broncos made it to the Super Bowl thanks to an amazing receiving corps but they didn’t make it a very competitive Super Bowl. Regardless of the outcome of the Super Bowl, the Broncos need to answer some questions not about their performance but about what they’re going to do with the roster this offseason.
Eric Decker is likely gone and the team may have problems with Wes Welker’s deal. Mike Florio from ProFootballTalk.com reports that if the Broncos can’t work anything out with Welker, the team may pursue Welker’s clone Julian Edelman in free agency.
"As Tom Curran of CSN New England pointed out on Friday’s edition of Pro Football Talk on NBCSN, the Broncos could decide to move on, if an impasse is reached. And that could put Welker back on the market.Which would allow the Broncos to pursue, say, Patriots slot receiver Julian Edelman. Which in turn would allow Welker to return to New England."
Denver pried Welker away from the Patriots last offseason and may look to do the same to another one of Tom Brady’s targets in the 2014 offseason as well.
