As the NBA trade deadline rapidly approaches, teams are going to start making cold calls for superstars just to see if their current teams will be willing to part ways with them. One such superstar is Carmelo Anthony, who is expected to opt-out of his contract with the Knicks at the end of the season.

Players that teams might lose tend to make the best trade chips, and few trade chips are as talented as Carmelo Anthony. But while they may lose him in the offseason, the Knicks aren’t going to save face and trade him now as Marc J. Spears from Yahoo! reports there’s no chance the Knicks trade Melo.

"There is “no chance” the Knicks will deal Carmelo Anthony, who owns a contract opt-out this summer, before the trade deadline, a source said."

This is hardly surprising as recently it has been reported that New York is actually trying to make a trade to convince Melo to stay, so trading him is wildly counterintuitive.

There may be a trade made in New York before the deadline, but Melo will not be anywhere near it other than to welcome the new player to the Knicks family.
