Earlier in the 2013-2014 NBA season, Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol was sidelined for nearly 2 months with a sprained MCL, and Memphis fans had a big-time flashback during the 3rd quarter of Wednesday’s game against the Orlando Magic.

With as ugly as Gasol’s potential injury may have looked, the big man from Spain was seen emerging from the locker room before the end of the game, and in the post-game, Gasol sounded fairly positive on the prospects of his health.

To be honest, keeping Gasol on the court is basically the best possible thing for the Grizzlies right now. Memphis is sporting the #1 defense in the entire NBA since his return from injury, and without him (the reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year, by the way), they are a completely different product on the court.

It is too soon to declare that Gasol is “healthy” without any sort of evaluation (an MRI, perhaps), but if his comments are any indication, the Grizzlies organization may have a dodged a considerable bullet and still managed to beat the Magic on Wednesday night without him.
