The NBA trade deadline is almost here which means that teams are starting to gauge the value of some o the more desirable trade chips they have. One such team are the Dallas Mavericks who are looking at maybe making a deal at the deadline to secure one more key piece to the roster.

One guy that won’t be traded in any such deal is guard Monta Ellis. According to Eddie Sefko from SportsDayDFW, Ellis’ value just isn’t what the Mavericks want when it comes to trading him away. They also believe that Ellis and Dirk Nowitzki can be a powerful tandem still.

"Not sure Monta Ellis is as valuable on the market as he is in the Mavericks’ lineup. The guy has been a rock this year. And when he’s shooting 46 percent like he is this season, he’s on the short list of shooting guards you’d like to go to war with. Never say never. But I see no chance of the Mavericks parting ways with him. They feel like he and Dirk will be a good recruiting tandem for this summer’s talent grab."

The Mavericks look poised for a playoff run and if they make a deal to add another piece, Ellis almost certainly won’t be involved.
