If you are a team looking to provide a boost to special teams during the offseason, there may be a very capable kicker available on the open market. Carolina Panthers kicker Graham Gano is set to become a free agent in March, and there is a growing belief that he may walk.

Carolina will be strapped for cap space and may not be able to free up enough room for Gano, who will be looking to cash in on a big pay day after racking up the highest touchback percentage (79.7) on kickoffs since 1994, according to ESPN.

ESPN’s David Newton also added that Gano personally told him that he will go to the place that sets him and his family up the best financially.

Newton writes:

"Gano would like to return, but as he told me after the season he will do what’s best for his family financially. The Panthers will have only so much room under the salary cap to re-sign a kicker."

While the Panthers would like to bring back the kicker that went six-for-six from beyond 50-yards, you have to spend wisely and the Panthers available cap space will be better suited to use for filling other needs.
