The Denver Broncos didn’t technically have a general manager last yea, nor have they had a general manager since John Elway took over. Instead, the team had been running with the title of VP of Football Operations when it ams to Elway’s job, but that title has been adjusted.

Elway was handed a three-year extension with the Broncos on Wednesday and in addition to his new deal, the Broncos officially stopped confusing people around the NFL and have added general manager to Elway’s title.

Per the Denver Post:

"The most famous employee in team history, Elway has received a three-year contract extension from the Broncos while also tacking on the title, “general manager” to his current position of executive vice president of football operations, according to an NFL source."

It was only a matter of time before Elway’s title was changed with the Broncos, but the most significant part of this is his extension with team. Under Elway’s watch, the team signed Peyton Manning and went to the Super Bowl this past year. Broncos fans can expect more of the same with this most recent extension of Elway.
