The New York Knicks need a lot of help if they want to truly turn things around in the second half of their season, and one way to do that is to make a trade. It’s widely accepted that all trade rumors involving Carmelo Anthony are misguided and incorrect, but making trades to appease Melo seems to be a motivating factor in making a move.

The Knicks tried to trade for Kyle Lowry earlier in the year but ended up dropping out of trade talks. Now, with the deadline approaching rapidly, the team may look at trading either Tim Hardaway Jr., or Iman Shumpert to acquire a piece that can play with Melo.

Per Joel Brigham of Basketball Insiders:

"As for making some kind of move, I could definitely see it. Tim Hardaway has been great, so Iman Shumpert is expendable. Something involving him would make a lot of sense, though I don’t see why most of the players on this team couldn’t be moved for the right package. I think they’ll be active, but I wouldn’t expect anything massive."

Depending on who you ask, trading Shumpert or Hardaway could be deemed massive, as they’re young players the Knicks would be trading away. But keeping Melo happy and keeping him in New York seems to be a goal the Knicks will do anything to achieve.
