NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks may trade Iman Shumpert, Tim Hardaway Jr

The New York Knicks need a lot of help if they want to truly turn things around in the second half of their season, and one way to do that is to make a trade. It’s widely accepted that all trade rumors involving Carmelo Anthony are misguided and incorrect, but making trades to appease Melo seems to be a motivating factor in making a move.

The Knicks tried to trade for Kyle Lowry earlier in the year but ended up dropping out of trade talks. Now, with the deadline approaching rapidly, the team may look at trading either Tim Hardaway Jr., or Iman Shumpert to acquire a piece that can play with Melo.

Per Joel Brigham of Basketball Insiders:

As for making some kind of move, I could definitely see it. Tim Hardaway has been great, so Iman Shumpert is expendable. Something involving him would make a lot of sense, though I don’t see why most of the players on this team couldn’t be moved for the right package. I think they’ll be active, but I wouldn’t expect anything massive.

Depending on who you ask, trading Shumpert or Hardaway could be deemed massive, as they’re young players the Knicks would be trading away. But keeping Melo happy and keeping him in New York seems to be a goal the Knicks will do anything to achieve.

The New York Knicks are doomed folks… This article and season is a testament to this being a fact as I COMPLETELY agree with it. Raymond Felton has become an Extreme liability. In fact, if we keep this man at point he might be the Very reason that Melo leaves. Not only because he knows that this article is true, but because he watches it happen firsthand every game as we do. Part of me thinks Felton is the player that came out and said he knew Melo would leave, but that just can’t possibly be true.. Every game I watch Felton play with a lazy air surrounding him, and whether his shooting is on or not completely becomes irrelevant when he consistently is beat/abused towards the ends of games. Lets be honest, even when Felton’s shot is on he usually implodes mid-game. We all know that we see Melo’s frustration with Felton’s passes, messages between plays, and overall demeanor sometimes even when it comes to imbounding the ball.

In my dreams, and now this is my dreams folks, Jr. Smith is our point guard. The man that no one in this league truly wants. He has reasonably great ball handles despite his reckless control of it, and he can penetrate and cut efficiently. Not only does he have these crucial attributes for point guards these days in being able to drive and create, but he also is a good finisher around the rim at 6’6. If only he could be what he was last year more consistently, but that’s the story of this guys career. Now look, I know this is stupid, but we surely cannot continue to watch this circus each game can we?? I have been a Knicks fan forever, and I cannot bare to see such assets handled this way.

Woodson must go, and that trade for Faried unfortunately may need to go down. That, or we get an all star point guard asap. I’m talking Kyrie come play where you grew up, Westbrook we’ll give you everything for you, Rondo convince Ainge to stop being a jackass, kind of business talk. This is the type of bullshit, back-handed business the Knicks have always tried to capitalize on, and in saying that it is almost certain that is what they are doing right now! I don’t care at this point, but I swear if the line-up is the same and Woodson keeps calling time outs without holding players accountable or making line-up changes… I’m done. The man is honestly insane if he thinks he has this team under his power anymore. Everyone sees it, they talk about, but nothing happens.

PS: That Bull’s rumor should be ashamed of themselves. Why in gods name would the Knick’s EVER, and I mean EVER take on Carlos Boozer’s contract. I don’t care what alteration of that trade is actually being discussed, if the Knick’s don’t get at least two draft picks for Melo they are actually insane.

    What a mess in NY!!

    Fire woodson,

Trade melo, barneygani, felton, J.R. for an elite point guard, Jeff green and Gasol for this season. Go young talent hunting after this season is over and rebuild the roster with 5-6 new guys.

It will never work with Carmelo in NY. He takes to many forced shots, he doesn’t PASS the dam ball to his teamates and he think he is clutch but he is NOT. All the other players strugle with a guy like that in the “team” and are not motivated to play because the ball doesn’t move much and when it does it is always going to end up in marmelolade hands and every single defence lineup in every 31 other teams in the NBA knows that.

NY needs to play like a team and look to do what toronto did with the Rudy Gay trade and get rid of marmelo ASAP.

Some Superstars are not always the best fit for some teams and that is showing game after game with the knicks. It is better to have 4 good defensive oriented players that average 10-15 ppg, 3 apg, 5-8 rbpg, 2 st every game than a carmello antony or rudy gay.

That is the formula that got the raptors 3rd in the east after the rudy gay trade.

It is ALL about the TEAM!!!

Please, Don’t trade Tim Hardaway away you crack heads. He deserves to play in a TEAM that shares the ball and defends so he can shine.

Asik/Garcia/D-Mo for both of them would be nice.

The Knicks won’t go anywhere for awhile to be honest even tho there my favorite 2nd team even tho I’m #Rockets forever but they got a lot of work to do and I know LeBron ain’t going LA or NY, also He’s either going Cleveland back home to win a RING for them he said he wanted to end his career there or stay in Miami. Kyle/James/Tristan they pretty much got good players right now him and ivring be sick and I have a feeling Bosh will leave or get traded anyways he would be perfect for #Houston if he want to win another ring or two! =) Harden/Parson/Bosh/D12 imagine that. Melo will never fit with rockets he have to play with a team by himself with solid players since the ball-hogging thing going on.

  • moocow007

Right…just like the Knicks were nuts to think about trading Iman Shumpert for just Eric Bledsoe last season right? Tim Hardaway is having a solid season for a 24th overall pick, but let’s not get carried away…again.

  • clydesucks

there not going to trade Tim , that’s CLYDE Frazier starting rumors so that the knicks don’t play well to avoid being shipped somewhere and he can go on early vacation, no playoff

  • clydesucks

Listen to what Innocent CLYDE Frazier had to say about
    Isiah Thomas
    2 x NBA Champion
national champion playing for Bobby night Isiah Hall of Famer one of the greatest guards to ever play Basketball
    Dream Team Candidate.

    at the end of video

  • clydesucks

it’s one thing when fans criticize but another broadcaster CLYDE the Knick heckler calling Isiah an embarrassment. He’s got a lot of nerve

  • clydesucks

This Knick team blew the knicks out by 20 or 30 points. they need to ignore the media that’s being influenced by CLYDE Frazier’s constant criticism and unite and play like family and then teams wil not be able to stop Progress.
