Robert Garrigus shot a four-under 67, which was his best score at Riviera by two shots.  His success can be attributed to an attitude change:

"My attitude.  I completely changed my attitude.  I just stopped telling myself that I hated this place, so to speak.  But I convinced myself this is my favorite golf course of the year and I tell you what, this is the best shape I’ve ever seen it.  The greens are rolling unbelievably good, and you don’t usually see that on poa annua.  So you know, I think with my attitude and the way the course has shaped up, I think everything worked out good today."

Kevin Stadler is not a fan of social media:

"I just have no interest in that.  I talk to people I want to talk to.  I don’t feel like everybody in the world has the right to know what I want to do."

Charley Hoffman enjoys playing the firm and fast conditions at Riviera, maybe a major championship is in his future:

"San Diego this year was firmer and faster and I played pretty good, and last week was soft and mushy and I didn’t play well.  I like the firm and fast conditions for sure."

Harold Varner III received an exemption to play in the Northern Trust Open.  He is a 23-year-old rookie on the Web.com Tour.  When asked to say something about himself he said:

"I’m 5‑8 and I have a flat top, that’s about it."

Jimmy Walker won the Frys.com in October for his first tournament win, and has won two more tournaments since then.  He has been getting plenty of extra media attention because of his recent success:

"I don’t know, I think I’m still processing it all.  I’ve never done this right here, stood in the room like this and talked and answered questions like this.  It’s always kind of been sitting down in the media room and stuff.  But I don’t know, this is where you want to be and this is why you want to play and play good, to answer questions I think."
