The Cleveland Cavaliers are starting to turn things around ever so slowly as the trade deadline approaches, and many fans are wondering if any moves will be made. Terry Pluto of The Plain Dealer stated on Saturday that the team is expected to make a move before the deadline passes, but there are names you should expect to not be mentioned in trade talks.

Dion Waiters has been in and out trade rumors more than Tina Fey and Amy Pohler changed outfits at the Golden Globes, but it appears the team now has taken a stance on what to do with him. According Pluto, the Cavs will only move Waiters in a ‘monster deal’, otherwise he’s staying put.

Per Pluto:

"I doubt the Cavs will deal Waiters, unless it’s in a monster deal. They believe he is just starting to understand how to play the NBA game. The guard from Syracuse is in only his second NBA season. Waiters shoots about 43 percent from 3-point range when he simply catches the ball and shoots it — no dribbles. When he takes even one dribble, it drops to near 30 percent."

This seems to be in the best interest of the Cavaliers, who just need to learn how to develop talent rather than flaunting themselves for free agents. The Trail Blazer up in Portland groomed talent and are now title contenders, and there’s no reason that can’t become the Cavaliers in a few years if they hang onto talent like Waiters rather than toss him overboard at the first sign of trouble.
