The Tennessee Titans have had a decision on their hands about what to do with impending free agent cornerback Alterraun Verner. The Pro Bowl cornerback is expected to get big money in free agency, but the question has been would the Titans even allow him to hit the market or would they franchise tag him and keep him for another year?

According to Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt, Verner is not likely to get franchise tagged and will almost certainly hit free agency in March.

"So why not use the franchise tag on cornerback Alterraun Verner? It would cost the Titans roughly $11.2 million, and that’s a hefty price tag on a one-year deal, especially since the Titans are paying Jason McCourty an average of $8.608 million per year."

Tennessee would undoubtedly love to have Verner back, but he’s likely gone once he hits the market and someone like the Minnesota Vikings offers him a fat deal.

A return to Tennessee isn’t out of the question for Verner, but it’s probable that he’s already played his last game with the Titans.
