Many had wondered whether or not new Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt would allow Jake Locker to compete for the starting quarterback job or cut him loose in favor of his own guy, but it looks like Whisenhunt is ready to give Locker a shot.

Whisenhunt was recently discussing his team entering the season, and he couldn’t contain his excitement for Locker in the new Titans offensive scheme.

“I am excited about finding out what he can do with our offense and trying to make things that he does well, have success with that,” Whisenhunt said, via the Nashville Tennessean. “I know I have liked what I’ve seen from Jake, and I am excited about seeing him advance in this offense.”

While it is good for Locker that he is making a positive first impression with his new head coach, there is still plenty of time for Whisenhunt to bring in another guy through free agency or the draft to compete for the job.
