Terrell Suggs was number one on the list of things that the Baltimore Ravens needed to address this off-season. With a $12.4 million cap number for the 2014 season, the Ravens wondered if they would have to trade or even cut Suggs.
Another option, of course, was to renegotiate a contract with the pass-rusher extraordinaire and ink him to a long-term extension. Reports tonight have them doing just that, with a deal expected to be announced in a press conference on Monday.

Ravens were facing a $12.4M cap hit on Suggs; that will go down considerably as part of this multi-year deal.

Terrell Suggs' extension with Ravens not yet done, but it's expected to be finalized tonight, per league source.

This is successful in two ways for the Ravens. There is the tangible, Suggs’s play on the field in which he brings that coveted pass-rush off the edge. Then there is in the intangible, the nearly impossible load Suggs shouldered to be the team’s leader upon Ray Lewis‘s retirement.
To lock up that player and ease up their cap situation in the process, the Ravens have to consider this a success.
