The Chicago Bears made a minor move on Monday, signing veteran defensive end Austen Lane.

Lane’s agent, Scott Smith, tweeted the news Monday afternoon.

Lane appeared in two games for the Detroit Lions last year, but did not record any stats and was released in November, which is why is eligible to sign before the start of free agency.

As Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune points out, Lane will be reunited with a familiar face.

"The Chicago Bears on Monday signed free-agent defensive end Austen Lane, his agent tweeted, reuniting him with defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. The Bears confirmed that Lane was signed to a one-year deal.Lane played for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2010-12, when Tucker was the defensive coordinator there. The Jaguars’ fifth-round pick in 2010 has three sacks in 30 career games."

Lane spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with Jacksonville Jaguars before being released.

In four years, Lane has 66 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble.
