It seems as if legendary NFL head coach and current ESPN football analyst Mike Ditka is a big fan of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, at least in regards to his play on the field.

Off the field? Well, Ditka clearly isn’t a fan of the way the Lions signal caller wears his hat.

"“I think when you look at him you see all the touches of greatness, in my opinion,” Ditka said. “Then you see some plays and go, ‘Wow! Why’d he do that?’“I think he can make all the throws. He’s a smart kid. I wish he’d put the baseball cap on frontwards instead of backwards all the time.”"

Ah yes, the inevitable quarterback hat controversy. We’re just weeks removed from San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his backwards hat situation, now we’re involved in Stafford Hatgate.

You may recall – Ditka has a bit of a problem with headwear as he and former quarterback Jim McMahon had quite the quibble over McMahon’s desire to wear a headband.

Hopefully Stafford’s girlfriend comes out and suggests she doesn’t like her NFL analysts falling asleep during a broadcast.
