NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Clippers shopping Matt Barnes for frontcourt help

The Los Angeles Clippers have been looking at ways to boost their frontcourt depth and that has led them down a path that lands them in the midst of trade rumors. With 48 hours left to go until the deadline, the Clippers are apparently starting to shop players in an effort to secure that frontcourt help they desire.

Ken Berger from reports that the Clippers are shopping, among others, Matt Barnes to see if they can’t get a decent return.

The Clippers are starting to slide a little in the West, but they’re building themselves for a deep postseason run. They’re going to make the playoffs, but they cannot afford another early exit. Trading Barnes may sting a little, but in the long term it may end up helping the team turn things around and acquire a piece that leads to a postseason run and not an early defeat.

Barnes is our toughest guy, unfortunately at his size that makes for problems as you need more muscle. Jordan and Griffin are strong guys but play finesse ball not tough ball….. If it’s Barnes you need a return of 50+ pounds in the exchange…. (Much rather see Dudley moved)!

Sting a little, more like sting a lot. The Clippers really wanted to keep the chemistry, but Doc realizes that chemistry can be an enemy in itself. Teammates could get too comfortable and end up forgetting about the primary focus at hand. This is why I’m not afraid to see Doc Rivers trading the farm if it means breaking up chemistry is the only way to win a championship. In title hunts, there is no such thing as friends, only enemies. And teams work better when one of their teammates is an enemy (ex: Blake Griffin and David Lee). Hopefully, Doc Rivers gets that guy he wants.
