Jairus Byrd will be one of the top players available on the market when the free agency period begins in March, but the Buffalo Bills may have other plans in mind. After failing to reach an agreement last offseason, the Bills may be prepared to use the franchise tag to keep exclusive rights for Byrd.

However, they could have something bigger brewing.

According to WGR 550 Buffalo, the Bills could use the franchise tag on Byrd with the intention of trading him so that they can get something in return when he leaves.

If the Bills use the tag on Byrd, who wants to be the highest paid safety in football, their already shaky relationship will get even worse so a trade would be the best way to make both sides happy moving forward and hopefully Byrd can get the money that he is seeking.
