NFL rumors: Raiders willing to ‘listen to offers’ for Terrelle Pryor

There have recently been reports that quarterback Terrelle Pryor does not have a guaranteed roster spot on the Oakland Raiders in 2014, so the recent rumors and speculation come as no real surprise.

According to the latest buzz from Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times, the Raiders will be willing to “listen to offers” for Pryor during the offseason.

The Raiders are hoping to get more consistent play from the quarterback position next season and Pryor has proven that he struggles to do so.

It was also recently reported by CSN Bay Area’s Scott Bair that it is ”very clear (he) doesn’t have a future as a quarterback (in Oakland).”

If the Raiders decide to move Pryor, they could look to draft a young quarterback early in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Matt McGloin is the other quarterback on the Raiders roster, but he was an undrafted free agent in 2013 and the team can certainly upgrade.

please keep Pryor , make him a backup at least or let him run around next season’s toughest schedule. or try to convert him to tight end. either way he is one of the best athletes on the team and hope he stays .

    • DiamondBackPain

Get on your knees and beg some more. It’s hysterical to watch this.

    • http://amazinguniverse.info/ Amazing Universe

“convert him to tight end” …. PLEASE … convert McGloin’s sorry azz …

    • marc allen

Not big enough for tight end..but yes, another position, sure..quarterback??..HELL NO!!!!!!!!

  • Les Mason

Let him go. HIs athletic ability is awesome, but mentally he hasn’t shown the skills to properly read and react to NFL defenses, which is a bummer but the reality of the situation.

    • John Thomas Hurdle II

Read defenses what QB do when they never played. He is a Rookie. In the real sense. All rookie need a run game and strong front line. It takes a Qb about 3 yrs, In one system to learn to read defenses. Example C. Newton. As well as T. Brady.

      • Echevarria

Yeah just like Flacco in Bmore and Wilson in Seattle… those guys and their rings need a couple more years

        • Raghav

Are you really giving credit to Flacco and Wilson for their SBs? Are you retarded? Those QBs would have barely make through the regular season without their defenses, top rated defenses in their SB winning year.

  • bennings

The problem with keeping Pryor is that you can’t run a normal offense with him and he simply doesn’t do enough things well to offset that extreme disadvantage. He struggles to merely get his teammates lined up correctly, that is to call out the right formations in the huddle (hence the myriad of time-outs being called from the sidelines when they recognize the discrepancy). Pryor lacks basic recognition skills. It’s too much for a talent-starved team like the Raiders to overcome. Pryor, also, represents a distraction and there again is another reason to ship him out before summer camp. While Pryor’s athletic ability is tantalizing, to put it mildly, the Raiders are not organizationally-equipped to maximize his incongruous skill set.

    • marc allen

Well said..to put it in these other peoples terms that they can comprehend..HE SUCKS!!

  • John M Schniebs

Another stupid move by current staff. Coach him up and get him better. Instead they will go out and sign Freeman or some other terrible QB

  • Eric Clark

If Mckenzie can’t see success and leadership out of Pryor I’m scared of who he’s gonna draft. Pryor is the only QB who actually had a win on the team last year and you wanna keep the guy who didn’t get a win. Doesn’t make since to me.

    • RaidingTexas

Success? That’s a joke. He was the lowest rated starting QB in the NFL last season. Leadership? Who cares? That doesn’t translate to wins. And you’re wrong on one thing: McGloin did win his first start. But they’re both not the answer. If you can get a draft pick by trading away either one, might as well.

    • marc allen

You are a moron..MM had a win, dumb ass..and he would have had more had the defense done it’s job!
      Pryor SUCKS!!!..

      • John Thomas Hurdle II

If the defense had don it job. TP was leading in the first half. Coaches did not have more plays for Terelle. MM is the same as Flynn a Statue. So a lot of 3 and outs wore out the defense. Lets not forget penalties on 3rd and short. Killer drives.

      • Tweety2

Marc, you all just don’t get it. If the Raiders draft a Q.B., he will need more than one year to develop. Let Pryor grow. We will lose with or without him next year. Draft “D” and “O-Line” to get ready for 2 to 3 years from now. By then we will really know what’s up.

    • Tweety2

Yep, I’m a die-hard Raider, but Reggie M. scares the dickens out of me.

  • KloverJane

With Veldeer back, they better sign him, a new and a better offensive line that gives us the opportunity to throw would help.

  • Steven

This is part of growing pains, we may have to trade him in order to get better. I think with a better O-line, McGloin will be serviceable for another season. We can’t draft a QB and expect him to save the franchise this season, gotta start from the base.

  • sickoe47

Clearly whoever wants terrelle pryor to be the starting QB for the raiders doesn’t know anything about football.in his time as a starter he had more INT’s then TD’s,he couldn’t take command of the offense,he couldn’t make the proper throws to open recievers down field and the receivingc corps took a step back under terrelle pryor.

    • marc allen

Exactly sickoe47…at least a FEW get it!

..at least a FEW get it!..
I did hear that certain eye doctors were staying open late for all the Pryor lovers to get their eyes checked!..

    • John Bencomo

Exactly he can’t read a defense every tp fan keeps talking about he needs too learn we don’t have time for this damn project qb and his baby steps

    • John Thomas Hurdle II

So did Payton Manning, in his first year. And he had better front line and running game.

  • Ecade

What a stupid Move , Pryor was Playing Good Ball getting first down and moving the chains letting the defense rest , when the Offensive line was hit by the injury bug his play declined however he only played in 8 games and according to Gm’s around the league it take at least 20 games to determine if you have a NFL QB . It’s a very complicated position to play takes longer than 8 weeks to evaluate the QB especially with that Offensive line .. ..

  • http://amazinguniverse.info/ Amazing Universe

Pryor should refuse any attempt to change his position .. I hope some other team picks him up and he comes back to bite the Raiders on the azz … all these sorry azz white QB’s in the league are given ample opportunities to develop.. McGloin won 1 game against the worst team in the league.. he showed less promise than Pryor .. trade him, don’t just sit him on the bench, trade him or release him ..

    • marc allen

Figures you would bring race into it..Warren Moon was black and was GREAT!..Pryor is black and he SUCKS!!..go away moron!

      • D Lewis

Marc allen stfu! It took Warren Moon 6yrs and 5 Grey Cups to get a shot in the NFL!

    • John Bencomo

God your an idiot that don’t know football you suck tp sucks he won’t start were ever he goes and I bet he will lose just like he did last year

    • John Bencomo

You act like we care hes gone why don’t you trade your self too

  • Raider Grant

Keep both Our QB’s & wait to go ALL IN on Marcus Mariota next year! Mariota is a pass first QB, and reads his check down options extremely well. He’s got the size, speed, patients to wait for play & can run with the best of them. Starter from day he’s drafted. Go Raiders

  • raider fan 9028

HES A great player it would be a mistake its the o line that held him back why do you think mcfadden didnt have the seasons he was suppose to this last few years

    • marc allen

Please go become a whiner fan..He’s a GREAT player??? are you friggin BLIND?????

    • Pridenpoise

Lmfao, so now it’s the O-Lines fault that McFadden has been a complete bust. Give your F*****g head a shake, and while your at it get Pryors d**k out of your mouth, it amazes me the people that defend this guy when it’s apparent to anyone with vision HE CANNOT PASS THE BALL WITH ANY ACCURACY.

      • John Bencomo

Perfect comment 100% agree with you real Raider smart fan

        • Raghav

John, you’re disagreeing to something that helped your teams win games, gave a spark to the Raiders, got first downs. McGloin is a Raider, he did a lot of good things in the passing game, but at the end of the day, he couldn’t keep the offense on the field for very long. Think about what that does, there’s a reason our defense started to decline after McGloin started. People are saying that our receivers took a step back when Pryor started? They never showed up big when Pryor was playing, Pryor scrambled and made plays, you can’t coach that. McGloin made plays also, but not enough to win games. Even though Pryor’s passing game hasn’t been the best to say the least, he was essentially our whole offense when he started, he rushed for more yards in one play than McFadden did in 2-3 games. He was our passing and rushing game. Find me another QB on talent deprived team and show me what Pryor was able to do and Ill agree that Pryor shouldn’t stay.

  • nomoreseasontix

Thanks for the effort, Pryor. You can go now.
We’ve seen what you have at quarterback, and it’s not what we’re looking for.
If you’d like to switch to WR over the off-season, we’ll be happy to evaluate your potential at that position.

We’ll try to get value AND put you in a good environment, but, no promises.

    • marc allen

      well said nomore..

      • Raidernation34

Pryor haters first off constantly through the season he would hit WRs on the money and they would drop passes #2 the offensive line would false start and hold and force a passing situation like 3rd and 25 that wasnt Pryors fault people just dont know situational football. yes Pryor has made some bad passes what QB doesnt but when you are 3rd and plus 10 what QB is going to do anything. to me he is the leader and should be the QB period. if you take a look at payton manning his rookie year 28 ints 26 tds with great line WRS and umm a running back named marshall faulk soo for those that want to be hater just shut you mouth bc you dont know anything about football

        • John Bencomo

Man bro just go get your eyes head and football iq checked by a professional because tp does not have it and all us real Raider fans don’t have time for a project qb you either have it or not its his third year and he still got out played by a walk on rookie that I see more talent in goodbye

          • John Thomas Hurdle II

he been on the roster, first year he was on practice squad. We had 3 different OC, in 3 years. what qb succeeds in that. We have rookie coaches and you guys try to plan TP. Dennis is a Defensive coach and he let McKenzie pick players. Coach is suppose to know what type of players and program he wants. Yet Flynn was brought in cause he was in GB with McKenzie. He not playing for McKenzie. So Allen is punk.

        • John Thomas Hurdle II

          Greatly said.

  • Echevarria

The Raiders should fire their scouts for the first round qb draft picks they have taken lately…
    signed
    jamarcus russell

    • Pridenpoise

And what QB’s would you be talking about, last I checked Jamarcus was the last first round QB taken in the first round, and those scouts are gone. Do your homework before you spout off

      • John Thomas Hurdle II

Yes but last year, we took a CB, DJ Hayden who we was not even sure he could take a hit. Over Star Louleti who played very well in Carolina. Hayden would have been around in the second. which they took a Linemen that only had one year of college play.(Watson). We was suppose to be building a team up and re got project players.

        • Pridenpoise

You’re trying to convince me they shouldn’t have taken Hayden, you’re preaching to the choir. However I suggest you read the post, it Said the Raiders should fire their scouts for blowing picks on QBs which is what I was responding to. By the way hindsight is twenty twenty. It’s pretty easy to say who the Raiders should have taken in the 2013 draft, in the 2014 off season.

          • John Thomas Hurdle II

Yes know what the question was I never said we should not have taken DJ. I just felt it should have been in a later round just as Watson also. Scouts had him on the board that high. Reason I said what I said. Keep up the fight for the Real Raiders Fans.

  • Angel Becerra

Pryor is not the answer. Yes, Pryor won more games but, McGloin scored more TDs and the only reason for most of the losses were due to a bad and unstable defense. I’m not saying MGloin is the answer either but, he did show more promise.

    • Raghav

You blame the defense for losing us games? How about McGloin going 3 & out every other possession? The Raiders defense had more time of play than our offense did in some games.

      • Omeros Christakos

Yes especially since he had the lead in 2 games. The titans game was on the defense. 3 and out can be corrected. Getting sacked and having the worst passing stats in the league is on Pryor.

  • Steven

They should keep Pryor for one more year. He played decent until the o-line got hit with injuries. Put some weapons around him and fix the o-line and defense. If he plays bad then they will have a high pick in next years draft which is going to be a even better QB class. Freeman has had one very good year, one average year, and three awful years. I think it would be just a waste of money.

  • Tweety2

Amazing how the one who won 3 of 4 games for you last year is ruled inept in less than 16 games! He had good reviews until he was injured by national media. Has anyone checked the record of 1st. year starters? He has skills that you cannot teach. He will become a very good passer. He just needs a coach that will give him confidence.

    • John Bencomo

What he could run there’s alot off wannabe qbs that can run lol he can’t throw and read defenses that’s for shorehe sucks and mcglion had games won the dedefense sucked

      • John Thomas Hurdle II

JB, you defiantly do not know how to build a real team. We starting from scratch you build a team from inside out. Big quick strong Defense and O-line. Then you put a strong run game, and Good receivers. Wilson as Lynch. Ben had Bettis, Cam has Jonathan and Williams. Kapinack has Gore. So do you see the pattern dummies.

      • Tweety2

One year starting does not make a Q.B. Ask Peyton Manning & he will tell you it takes 2-3 years to develop a winning Q.B. Very few exceptions!

  • OCraider

Best news in 10 years Raiders need a grown up at QB not a child that needs his agent to fight for him during the season. That and he cant pass to save his life. 94 yards with 6 minutes left in a game then pads his stats with the game lost already and people think he is a great QB. And the o line was not the whole problem stop making excuses for him Mc got sacked only 6 time in 6 games Pryor would have ended up in the hospital running even when the pocket did not collapse.

    • John Thomas Hurdle II

No the O-line was not the whole problem. Coaching was the other. They had no plans pass Matt Flynn.

      • OCraider

Jury is still out at one point the defense was rated high before injuries and depth took their toll. The Offense only really played well for a half most of the time but I saw some improvement in overall play. The players are buying into their system especially on defense they just did not have the weapons last season and the cap situation did not help the coaches. Woodson seems to be all in he is pushing to come back I figure with his experience he sees something there lets hope he is right.
