While the NBA trade deadline is usually filled with rumors about giant superstar names changing uniforms, the reality of the deadline is that smaller role players tend to be the most likely to move and that’s what we’ve seen so far in the last 24 hours. With exceptions like Jason Terry, Marcus Thornton and Steve Blake being moved, the deadline is shaping up to be quiet again, although a lot of teams seem to be getting in on the action at some level.
The defending champion Miami Heat already made one trade this season and have again pulled the trigger on a deal. According to Ken Berger from CBSSports.com, the Heat have traded Roger Mason Jr. to the Sacramento Kings.

Heat is expected to receive a highly protected SAC second-round pick to complete the swap for Mason that will most likely never be conveyed

It’s far from a splashy move and it’s one that won’t have hardly any roster impact on the Kings, but it’s a trade nonetheless. While blockbuster moves are expected by some, the Roger Mason trade-and-waive is more typical of what we see.
