The NFL Combine is attracting a lot of attention right now, but not everybody within a given organization is solely focusing on draft prospects. There are some focusing on free agents from other teams and some focusing on free gents of their own.

Up in Philadelphia, the Eagles have two exiting receivers they must prioritize and it appears that they have. When it comes to upcoming free agents Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin, the Eagles are targeting Maclin over Cooper.

Per Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane:

"If all goes to plan, the Eagles will sign Maclin to a one-year contract and attempt to acquire another starting-caliber receiver via free agency. Cooper remains on the radar, and the Eagles could circle back if they don’t land another target, but securing Maclin will take precedence."

This is may be a little shocking to some casual fans, but it all comes down to money. While the Eagles would likely love to keep Cooper, Maclin will come cheaper and still has a ton of upside. It’s possible they sign both but the Eagles won’t be circling back to Cooper until they have re-signed Jeremy Maclin or somehow have lost out on him.
