Cris Cyborg calls out Ronda Rousey post UFC 170

This past weekend at UFC 170, Ronda Rousey defeated Sara McMann by TKO in the first round to retain her UFC Women’s Bantamweight championship. The win was Rousey’s 9th overall, and third straight UFC title defense.

While top challengers Alexis Davis and Cat Zingano will likely get the next shot at Rousey, a longtime foe is attempting to force her way into the pack. Former StrikeForce and current Invicta Featherweight champion, Cris Cyborg, called out Rousey after UFC 170 with this tweet:

Cyborg notably dropped Tito Ortiz as her manager last week, in what is being deemed as an olive branch to the UFC. Cyborg has also made it clear that she is willing to drop to 135 pounds to take on Ronda. If you remember correctly, Tito Ortiz claimed that Cyborg would die if she attempted the cut to 135.

In the UFC 170 media scrum, Dana White made it clear that he would only sign Cyborg after she had a few bouts at 135 under her belt to assure that she can make the weight. Dana has not minced words about his feelings for Cyborg, calling her a drug cheat, saying she looks like Wanderlei Silva, and stating that Cyborg committed professional suicide by hiring Ortiz as a manager in the first place.

We will likely soon find out if Cyborg will join the UFC ranks, and if a fight with Rousey is on the horizon.
