The Cleveland Browns are expected to be one of the teams looking at adding a top quarterback in the 2014 NFL Draft, but recent comments by head coach Mike Pettine may lead others to think that they already have the answer on their roster.

Pettine was asked about the Browns quarterback situation at the NFL Scouting Combine, and he gave an interesting answer that began with two simple words: Brian Hoyer.

From the Boston Globe:

"“Brian Hoyer,” were the first words out of his mouth. “We’re looking forward to getting him back to where at least he’ll do some limited work in the spring. I’ve always admired Brian from afar. He’s proven he can be successful in the NFL, but at the same time, you’re always looking to make the team better and that’s the most important position.”"

Pettine didn’t rule out drafting a quarterback, but it leaves more options for the Browns when they are on the clock.

If the team would like to add a wide receiver like Sammy Watkins, then that would allow them to use the second first-round pick on a player like Derek Carr or perhaps a quarterback that they can groom behind Hoyer in Round 2.

Whatever route they decide to go, it appears that Hoyer will at least get an opportunity to win the starting job.
