The Oakland Raiders have been looking at just who will fit their team and make them better when the go on the clock at No. 5 overall this May and one name that continues to surface in connection to the Raiders is former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.

While he’s considered perhaps the No. 1 pick in the draft, Manziel is garnering attention from teams beyond the Houston Texans and the Oakland Raiders may start to covet him more and more as the draft nears. Word that Raiders brass met personally with Manziel seems to suggest this could happen.

The Raiders, as well as every other team at the combine, are meeting with guys they may not end up drafting so just meeting with a player guarantees nothing. Still, given the Raiders utter need for a franchise quarterback, it’s not unrealistic to see them coveting Manziel but it’s hard to see him slipping all the way to No. 5 without someone moving up to get him first.

It would be a BIG mistake to take Johnny Football. It would set the organization back years.

He’s a winner. We haven’t had a winner since Gannon went down with that neck injury. Dude is a stud. IDC about him being only 6ft and having off the field issues. He was in college doing what every guy dreams of doing. He’s a playmaker and we need a playmaker.

Vick is the same size and a runner and can’t stay healthy. The Raiders don’t need that.

  • Real M-Fing talk !!!

Tebow aside…I have never seen a limited QB get so much hype… Teddy is clearly the “most” talented QB in the draft mentally and he has the arm… now i am
hearing the reason for Teddy’s drop is his frame… SMH .. yeah, Manziel and Drew B. have the perfect frames built just for NFL pounding…. please give me a better reason for this kids drop?… Johnny bust was a less talented version RGIII and Bridgewater is a less talented version of Luck and The the media are approach those two stars were night and day…. its just the opposite this year…. the only ones who should be drafted ahead of Teddy is Clowney or Blake if you are 100% sure he fits your franchise… if the Texans are smart they draft Bridgewater and be done with it… you can find a less D-line man to line up with J.J. that will be just as dyno-mite

Build D & O line, draft Marcus Mariota in 2015! Go Raiders

  • Sterling Archer

I would rather take a prototypical NFL QB in a later round and try to develop them

  • Frank

Get MD away from that area ! He’s going to follow his dad’s foot steps. They need a play maker and Sammy Watkins is a no brainer.

  • Frank

Go get Qb Matt S from the Texans save some money Draft Sammy and trade Pryor for another pick wait ..could even Draft a Qb later Aaron Murry from Ga

  • Frank

Not exactly a coveted Qb class in the top rounds.. someone will take teddy before the 5th
