The Oakland Raiders have been looking at just who will fit their team and make them better when the go on the clock at No. 5 overall this May and one name that continues to surface in connection to the Raiders is former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel.

While he’s considered perhaps the No. 1 pick in the draft, Manziel is garnering attention from teams beyond the Houston Texans and the Oakland Raiders may start to covet him more and more as the draft nears. Word that Raiders brass met personally with Manziel seems to suggest this could happen.

The Raiders, as well as every other team at the combine, are meeting with guys they may not end up drafting so just meeting with a player guarantees nothing. Still, given the Raiders utter need for a franchise quarterback, it’s not unrealistic to see them coveting Manziel but it’s hard to see him slipping all the way to No. 5 without someone moving up to get him first.
