NFL Rumors: New York Jets unlikely to sign Michael Vick
By Josh Hill
The New York Jets managed to claw their way through another so-so season in 2013, but there is hope that this offseason will lead to some major improvements and hopefully a playoff berth. One way that the Jets can not only get better this year but ensure a solid foundation for their future, is to sign a veteran quarterback to nurture and mentor Geno Smith.
One guy who won’t be on the Jets radar, at least seriously, seems to be Michael Vick. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Vick may be on the radar but isn’t looking to figure into any actual plans.
"Sanchez’s impending departure has fueled speculation about possible replacements. The News has learned that a reunion between Eagles quarterback Michael Vick and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, who worked together for four seasons in Philadelphia, is unlikely."
This is was sort of expected, although Vick mentoring Smith seems like a good idea on paper. It’s possible that the Jets still go after Vick but he’s looking for a starting gig and one that may take him to a warmer climate.
