The 2014 NFL Draft is still three months away, but the buzz is just beginning to pick up and we are hearing some word on what direction a few teams could go with their first-round pick. For the New Orleans Saints, the buzz is a bit surprising.

According to Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, the Saints are meeting with high level quarterback prospects that are expected to go in the first or second-round.

Much like when the Green Bay Packers selected Aaron Rodgers at the end of the first-round with Brett Favre already on the roster, the Saints appear to be looking towards the future and preparing themselves for a scenario where a prospect could fall into their laps.

That would allow the Saints to groom the young quarterback behind Drew Brees for a couple of years before throwing him into the starting mix.

While Miller did not name any player specifically, the second-tier of quarterbacks in the 2014 NFL Draft include the likes of Derek Carr, Zach Mettenberger and A.J. McCarron. Of course, there is also the possibility that a player like Teddy Bridgewater falls in the draft after skipping the combine, so this could be an interesting situation to watch.
