The Philadelphia Eagles have some decisions to make this offseason when it comes to re-signing free agents and moving money around to make sure they can keep their team intact as long as humanly possible. Both Riley Cooper and Jeremy Maclin are free agents this year and the Eagles have already prioritized Maclin over Cooper, but their ideal situation sees them bringing back both.

Jason Avant seems to be the odd man out in this scenario as he’s not named Maclin or Cooper and is currently eating up valuable salary that the Eagles can use in their efforts to bring one or both of their receivers back. According to Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane, the team is expected to cut Avant and save some cash.

Cutting Avant would likely happen before his roster bonus is due on March 15th and with free agency opening on March 11th, it’s realistic that Avant could be gone by then.

It’s not that Avant was particularly bad in 2013 for the Eagles, it’s just that he’s probably a No. 3 receiver on the team at best and may be no more valuable on the market. Still, he’ll find work in 2014 but it won’t be in Philadelphia.
