The Philadelphia Eagles already locked up fellow wide receiver Riley Cooper after the two sides agreed on a five-year deal.

Now the Eagles are attempting to lock up Jeremy Maclin as well.

The two sides have held negotiations, though, at this time are not close to a deal.

"Riley Cooper’s 5-year deal done but Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin’s is not. Sides are talking but not close to a deal, according to sources."

Of course, that can change in the blink of an eye (for bad or good) as last night we heard suggestions that the Eagles were more concerned about hammering out a deal with Maclin than Cooper.

Maclin is coming off a torn ACL, so it’s difficult to say what type of deal the two sides are discussing. He’d understandably like a long term deal but the Eagles might not be so willing given his injury history and the fact they may wan’t a ‘prove it’ year.

All that said, those within the know do expect the two sides to find a mutual ground.
