It sounds as if current New York Giants running back David Wilson has been put on notice.

According to new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, the Giants are looking for a running back who is good in pass protection and doesn’t struggle to pick up the blitz.

"“First and foremost, the runner needs to be able to protect the quarterback,” McAdoo said. “He also needs to be able to run with the ball in his hands and do that well. You’d like to have a complete back.“Obviously, it’s ideal to have a guy that is functional out of the backfield catching the football, but at the end of the day, if they can’t protect the quarterback, they’re going to have a hard time getting on the field.”"

Ouch.

Wilson of course struggled with the concept of blocking which lead to Eli Manning often finding himself on the ground or facing pressure, which obviously contributed to his league leading interceptions total.

The Giants are said to be looking in free agency and the upcoming 2014 NFL Draft for a running back, though have not ruled out bringing back their own free agents.
