Ndamukong Suh is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and it appears that he’s going to be blazing a new trail for player contracts int he future. Typically an agent negotiates a contract for a player, but Suh is dropping that to possibly represent himself in contract negotiations with the Lions and it could be a massive moment in NFL history.

Per the Detroit News:

"Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh reportedly has been considering negotiating his own blockbuster contract with the Lions this offseason. And if Suh chooses to represent himself, it could have a monumental impact on agents and contracts for other star players around the NFL."

If Suh successfully represents himself, it will significantly diminish the value of agents to top-tier players in the NFL. Not only would Suh be showing that other players can talk with their teams and hammer out deals on their own, but no agent means no extra cut for said agent and more money for the player.

Agents won’t go extinct if Suh successfully represents himself, but their value may take a blow even if the average price of players if the NFL doesn’t drop without them.
