While a lot of the focus this year in the 2014 NFL Draft is on Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans when it comes to the receiving group, last season’s most proficient college football wideout, Oregon State star Brandin Cooks, might not be getting the due that he deserves. Well, he actually might be from Rex Ryan and the New York Jets, as Sports Illustrated’s Peter King pointed out recently.

With Santonio Holmes gone from the team, Cooks would absolutely fit a need for Ryan and his offensive unit as they look to build off of what they accomplished last season, which all things considered, was nothing short of phenomenal.

A reliable wideout such as Cooks could also help with the progression of second-year quarterback Geno Smith, who did show some signs–albeit limited–that the team made the right choice in the 2013 Draft.

In addition to his accomplishments on the field last season, Cooks recently turned some heads at the NFL Scouting Combine by clocking in at 4.33 in the 40-yard dash.
