Veteran defensive back Charles Tillman is set to hit free agency next week, but he is still recovering from a torn triceps that prematurely ended his 2013 campaign. While speaking on the injury, Tillman announced that he has yet to be medically cleared to compete.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Tillman needed surgery to repair his triceps and he is waiting for the green light to return to action.

The good news is that the recovery will not hinder Tillman’s ability to be ready to go by training camp.

While age and injuries are catching up to Tillman, he should still receive some interest when he hits the open market. Teams will just need to put him through vigorous medical evaluations to determine just how healthy he can be in 2014.

Don’t expect Tillman to get too big of a pay day.
