With his high-flying style of play and ceaseless energy, Portland Trail Blazers guard Will Barton has ingratiated himself with the Portland fans since the team drafted him out of Memphis in 2012. However, if there’s one thing Portlanders are picky about, it’s local food, and Barton’s recent
heresy comment regarding Oregon’s quality of seafood may get him run right out of town.
Joe Freeman of The Oregonian recently approached Barton with a fan’s question regarding his (Barton’s) opinion about the local seafood. Here’s the (indefensible) exchange:
Q: Hey Will, Will here. I’ve had the blue crab in Baltimore and dig it. Have you tried any of Oregon’s local seafood, such as razor clams?A: “I’ve had Oregon seafood and it’s OK. But it’s nowhere near Baltimore. Let me throw that out there. No disrespect to Oregon. But Baltimore just has the best seafood in the world — Baltimore and New Orleans.”
