With his high-flying style of play and ceaseless energy, Portland Trail Blazers guard Will Barton has ingratiated himself with the Portland fans since the team drafted him out of Memphis in 2012. However, if there’s one thing Portlanders are picky about, it’s local food, and Barton’s recent

heresy

comment regarding Oregon’s quality of seafood may get him run right out of town.

Joe Freeman of The Oregonian recently approached Barton with a fan’s question regarding his (Barton’s) opinion about the local seafood. Here’s the (indefensible) exchange:

"Q: Hey Will, Will here. I’ve had the blue crab in Baltimore and dig it. Have you tried any of Oregon’s local seafood, such as razor clams?A: “I’ve had Oregon seafood and it’s OK. But it’s nowhere near Baltimore. Let me throw that out there. No disrespect to Oregon. But Baltimore just has the best seafood in the world — Baltimore and New Orleans.”"

What the hell, Barton?! Yes, I know you have Mo’s in Baltimore, but the only Mo’s that count are the ones on the Oregon coast. Their clam chowder simply can not be dismissed as merely “OK.” I sincerely hope you responded to that question on Opposite Day, because otherwise I’ll have to demote you on my very prestigious Cool Portland Players I Could See Myself Being Best Friends With power rankings.
